How Long Does a Concrete Patio in Kansas City, MO Last?

July 6, 2022/in Uncategorized/by guardian

A concrete patio’s sealant is made to resist vital elements and normal wear and tear, but certain chemicals can prematurely corrode the sealant and remove its sheen. Products containing ammonium nitrates and sulfates are particularly damaging. Deicing salts can also damage a concrete patio’s sealant, especially during the first winter. If you are unsure what to do with your concrete patio, consult a professional painter or contractor for advice on protecting your new investment.

While concrete is a durable material, it is still subject to cracking and unevenness over time. Over time, concrete slabs can break or become uneven; when this happens, they no longer function or look the way you envisioned. While minor cracks can be repaired, a cracked concrete patio may need replacement. The best way to ensure your concrete patio will last a long time is to clean and maintain it regularly.

If you’re not in a humid climate, it’s best to protect your new patio from extreme temperatures for 24 hours. Suppose your new patio is exposed to rain, set up heavy plastic sheets that can be easily removed. To ensure your family’s safety, teach them to stay away from your concrete patio for the first week or so. Then, wait three days before walking on it to ensure it’s fully cured.

A patio made of concrete is easy to maintain and clean, but it is not indestructible. A crack or discoloration can cause the concrete to crack and require expensive repairs. Often, the concrete patio will need to be resurfaced every five to seven years. If you want a beautiful patio, consider adding a rug. You can also use soft tabs to protect the concrete surface. The carpets are easy to clean and look great, making them perfect for patios.

If you want to add furniture to your newly poured concrete patio, wait at least two days for it to cure. Walking on wet concrete is dangerous because it will undo all your hard work. After two days, the patio will be dry enough to walk on. Once it’s been cured for two to three weeks, it can be used for outdoor activities. It will reach its maximum strength after 28 days.

Another important aspect of concrete patio installation is proper sealing. Water will pool on the surface if you do not seal the concrete. You will not have to worry about leaks if you have a stamped concrete patio. It will look like a professional patio and last for years. And it is an inexpensive alternative to pavers. Stamped concrete will give your deck a long life, lasting up to 25 years. When properly installed, it won’t crack or peel and will be virtually maintenance-free.

Another critical aspect of sealing a concrete patio is the thickness of the concrete. Generally, four to six inches is the minimum thickness. For decks that support structures, six to eight inches is recommended. Once you’ve chosen the right consistency and shape, you must measure the substantial quantity. This can be calculated by multiplying the thickness of the concrete by the width and length of the patio in feet. Then, divide the number of square feet by 27 to get the volume of the concrete.
